srilanka food

Sri Lanka cuisine

Sri Lankans like their food to be spicy. Rice is eaten at least once a day, usually with very hot curry. Despite today's obsession which chilli it it was the Portugese who introduced Red Chilli to Sri Lanka. Until then most preparation had been sweet or used only pepper. Modern day Sri Lankan food has Indian, Portugese, Dutch and even a touch of British flavour mixed in. Almost every dish is prepared in coconut milk.
